Many: some initiatory, others as epilogues, perhaps as mere paths. Few: an anabasis. A rising from the depths of oneself, and *Las Ciénagas* is one of them. It is the repeated return to the marshlands, to absences, to masks and deceptions, to silences and shadows, to the enchantments of the flesh and its desires, toward the quiet longing for calm and the contemplation of the skies, toward the absence of guilt transmuted into yearning, toward the sacralization of words and pure feelings. Toward the bare emotions that Daniel Posse sifts, sometimes stripping them of words, severing articles, and at others adorning them with beautiful metaphors—those through which beds bloom in his verses, foam becomes courage, and hands turn into pathways.
